Baobab Batik was founded in 1991 by Els Hooft with the aim to build sustainable economic and social solutions for women in Swaziland through the ancient art of batik. What began as a hobby is now a bustling small enterprise that consists of over 25 women, whose contributions to the local community have brought significant growth and overall improvements in the quality of life. Baobab Batik is a for-profit enterprise, but Els’ main motivation and inspiration is her love of design, the artisans and our planet. |
