We are back in Kabul to launch the Artisan Toolkit and work with new and existing Far & Wide Collective partner artisans. There has been a lot of progress since last year - many new businesses have emerged and old businesses seem more confident. It is wonderful to see.
We spent the entire day at the Turquoise Mountain Institute (pictured below) talking to artisan businesses and craft students. We had a wonderful photographer following us around for most of the day - getting us new images and footage for a short video we hope to upload in the near future. But he had to leave early in the afternoon as he had promised to take a small group of female graffiti artists to the old Darlaman palace ruins for a graffiti session. These are the young urban women of Afghanistan - a step ahead and enjoying the freedom many of them won in the last decade!
Exhausted but happy to be here. Check back often for exciting news and updates on artisans and new products!
