It's happening. They're catching on.
Last week, the massive, upscale US retail store, west elm (owned by Williams-Sonoma Inc.) announced a three to five-year commitment to purchase $35 million in handcrafted goods from 15 countries around the globe. In doing so, they will be supporting over 20 artisan groups, and benefitting 18,000 families.
Consumers want to know where their products are coming from, and how they are made. They want the quality of the handmade, and the story behind it. And most of all, they want to help make a difference. Invest in an artisan and his/her craft and you're investing in a small business - you're helping to change lives. Time to join the movement.
