Afghanistan

Last week's horrific attack on our good friend Kamal's restaurant in Kabul, where he and many other friends tragically lost their lives, is a reminder of the interest some have in keeping Afghanistan poor, destabilized and isolated. We can all help the Afghans in this fight. At Far & Wide Collective we believe that business growth and trade is the most efficient way for countries to build prosperous economies, break isolation and connect with the rest of the world. In times like this we remain strongly committed to supporting and promoting the craftswomen and men of Afghanistan. Crafts are already a large employer and a very promising sector. Matching Afghan skills and production with the unprecedented demand for handmade and unique products is a very real and powerful way for Afghanistan to connect with international markets and be part of the global economy.

We must never let terrible events - such as the one in Kabul last week - overshadow all the good work that has been done, or let the efforts of those who lost their lives be in vain. Have a look at the beautiful work of the many talented Afghan artisans we work with!

I agree – it is a long and difficult work nearly a fight every day. Go on, I really adore your work to help poor people.
